As invited guest artist, Carole created "Toto" from Kansas limestone, 170cm x 36cm x 20cm. The stone had been a massive fencepost in Kansas in the late 1800's, part of miles of such fencing that stretched across the state. You can see where the wires rubbed indentations in the stone over the years, and an old square forged nail was left in it. After realizing that the stone was filled with so many interesting fossils and impressions of many legged past inhabitants, Carole was reluctant to carve too much away and destroy the fascinating history. Instead, she just shaped the sides into a favorite undulating form and left the large faces in their natural state, blending old and new.

It is "Toto," as in "we're not in Kansas anymore ..."
