First International Emerites Heights Sculpture Symposium
North Coast, Egypt
August 12 – September 12, 2009

Carole was one of 15 sculptors invited to participate in the Emirates Heights International Sculpture Symposium on Egypt's North Coast. Carole's sculpture, "Onward and Upward," carved in three weeks of Egyptian marble, is a soft, undulating form emanating from the earth. Measuring 230 x 1.00 x .80, it is installed at the Emirates Heights resort community, a joint Egyptian/UAE development – really a small city – on Egypt's North Coast.

The North Coast is 525 km of beautiful sandy beaches on the Mediterranean. Emirates Heights, not far from Marsa Matrouh, lies between El Sallum, Libya (222 km/137 miles west) and Alexandria (290 km/180 miles east.)

Trips to Cairo and Alexandria, amazed by the famous sights and palpable sensations of history, friendly people with perhaps the best sense of humor anywhere, swimming in the clear blue sea every day even though at times its beauty could be deceptively treacherous ... Egypt is a very special place.
